Could someone describe CUI (Character-based User Interface) in a brief way?

CUI is pretty much a grid of characters which creates a user interface on the screen. It's also possible to create custom characters to create actual graphics for something like a game instead of just having text.
Different systems handle this differently depending on how much memory they have, more memory allows for more complex characters, higher color space and a higher resolution grid. For example a Commadore 64 with 64KB of memory will be very limited when compared to a newer MS-DOS system with 64mb of ram. (Not an amazing example, but you get the idea...)

A Character-based User Interface (CUI), also known as a Command Line Interface (CLI), is a text-based interface where users interact with the computer by typing commands. Unlike Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs), which rely on icons and visual elements, CUIs use text and symbols for navigating and executing tasks. Commonly used in early computer systems and programming environments, CUIs are efficient for experienced users, allowing quick access and control over system functions, often through a keyboard-only setup.
